Chanda's Wars, book one.

Chanda's Wars, by: Allan Stratton.

Chanda's Wars is the first book I have read this year for the White Pine, and I enjoyed it very much. I read Chanda's secret first, which was a story of a young girl's struggle living with a mother with aids and having to deal with death in her life a lot. It was very sad, and I felt very badly for the main character. The second novel involves the same characters. In this one, Chanda has to care for her two younger siblings because her mother passed away. She is trying to balance a job, and repair her broken family. She leaves with her siblings to work with her family, and a civil war dispute is raging. The leader of this war, is using children in the war and everyone is afraid. Chanda works with an unlikely person to help save the children. It was a heart-wrenching tale that I enjoyed very much.
